Description

Sooke Bunk Bed

This Sooke bunk bed is part of our Vanisla Collection. The name is from a small town on the south-west side of Vancouver Island.

Made of solid rubberwood. Rubberwood is from a rubber tree, native to southeast Asia. It is considered hardwood and sustainable.

You can add a Vanisla storage trundle under the bunk bed or use a hanging tray for extra storage, however, Vanisla drawers do not fit under this bunk.

Usability

This bunk bed stands at a height of 61”. Standard ceiling is 96” so you have plenty of space on the top. Clearance on the lower section, however, is the tight side. For example, this height is ideal for rooms with a low ceiling, or if you have only one child who loves to sleep on a bunk bed and keep the lower bunk for sleepover or guests. It is also perfect for grandkids.

This bunk divides into two beds. However, after you separate the bunk, your two beds will not look identical.

Sooke bunk bed is perfect for any age. In other words, kids, teens, or adults all can use this bunk without a problem. This is because it can hold 220 lbs of weight on the upper bunk. Moreover, we tested it in our store, two of us climbed the bunk and sat on top w/o any issues or hearing any noise. Although weight wise this bunk is fine for adults, lower bunk might be tight for some people. For prolonged use for adults, we have better options for you.

Safety

There are 4 metal pings between upper and lower bunk. You do not see them, they are inside the wood. They are about 3” in length.

Climbing

Sooke bunk bed uses a vertical ladder which is harder to climb, but easier to access under the bunk and as a result, saves more space.

In addition, you can install the ladder on the right or left side. No need to specify this when you order. This is the default option. You decide on where to install it during assembly.

Assembly

Assembly of Sooke bunk is fairly simple. All 4 headboards and ladder are assembled. You need to install guard rails, connect mattress rails, and slats.

Slats are made of solid wood as well. They are layers of glued wood, as in plywood, for extra strength. You may see some putty here and there which is normal.

Mattress Size

Standard single also called twin, size mattress so fits this loft bed just fine. From the top of the slats to top of the guardrails, you have 12” of space. Therefore we recommend using a mattress with 6” of thickness for both upper and lower bunk.

Price includes a bunk bed frame which ladder is part of. We sell mattress and accessories separately since some people either have or do not need them.
