Timber Loft Bed

Timber design loft beds are made of solid wood, available in one height and just about every possible size.

This loft bed is part of our Cottage Collection. The name is for its very thick 3" by 3" piece of timber we use for each post. By far, the thickest bunk bed posts you ever see.

Made of solid Southern Yellow Pine. Yellow Pine is denser than our own BC pine. It is also used in building roller coasters.

Usability

Available height for this loft in 72” H. This height is fine for kids or adults and it works very well in a standard 8 foot ceiling.

Timber loft is available in single (or twin), double (or full) and queen. We also make it in extra long singles or doubles. Take advantage of extra long versions for teens or grown ups.

This loft divides into one bed. You technically get 4 headboards with this loft and 3 mattress rails. If you wish to turn this loft into a bunk, or two individual beds, all you need to add is one extra mattress rail and one set of slats. We do sell them separately.

Slats

Slats are made of solid wood as well. They are about 6” wide and you get 8 of them per loft, or 16 in total.

Under Loft Space

You can add a matching bookcase or desk under the loft from our Cottage collection line up. This way you can order the same color and style.

We also have a variety of case goods for this collection.

There is enough space under this loft to sit and have enough head space.

Safety

Our finishes include volatile organic compounds (or VOC's) in their liquid form. These ingredients are used to allow finishes to be applied by spraying. Once a finish is applied the ingredients evaporate during the drying and curing process releasing the VOC's. Finished wood surfaces do not emit VOC's once they are cured.

Timber loft is perfect for any age. Kids, teens, or adults all can use this loft without a problem. This is because it can hold 400 lbs of weight on the upper loft. To achieve this weight rating, the mattress rail on this loft is a solid and very thick piece of wood without finger joints, just a long solid piece of timber.

Headboard joints are traditional and robust mortise and tenon.

There are 4 metal pings between upper and lower loft. You do not see them, they are inside the wood. They are about 2” in length.

Ladder

The big feature of this loft is the built-in ladder. You do not need an additional ladder, just use headboards to climb. This style of ladder actually is easier to use than a normal ladder. This is because of the extra space you have. It acts just like monkey bars.

If you wish to add a ladder, it is possible and available for an extra fee.

Assembly

Assembly of Timber Design loft is fairly simple. All 4 headboards are assembled. You need to assemble the guard rails, connect mattress rails, and slats.

Mattress rails connect to a special metal bracket. You need to screw in these brackets to the headboards. There are pre-drilled marks on the headboard.

Mattress Size

Standard size mattress fits this loft bed just fine. For the upper loft, you can use a maximum 8” thick mattress. For lower loft, stay around an 8” thick mattress. Thicker than that gives you less clearance.
